Lonmin appoints Mian Khalil as Executive Vice President, Capital Programme      
The Board of Lonmin is pleased to announce the appointment of Mian Khalil as    
Executive Vice President, Capital Programme.  Mian who is currently Vice        
President, Project Development Services for BHP Billiton will join Lonmin on 1st
September 2006 and will take responsibility for managing Lonmin"s capital       
projects.                                                                       
Commenting on the appointment, Lonmin"s Chief Executive, Brad Mills said:       
"I am delighted that Mian has decided to join the Lonmin team.  He has all the  
necessary skills and experience to provide a valuable addition to our senior    
management team and will be key in supervising the project management of our    
large capital projects."

Mian Khalil (57) has worked as BHP Billiton"s Vice President, Project           
Development Services since 2001.  He joined BHP in May 1996 when the Company    
acquired Magma Copper where he worked as a Project Manager.  With BHP he held   
roles as Vice President, Capital Development and Vice President Engineering &   
Construction.  Before joining Magma, Mian worked in a number of engineering     
roles worldwide for Davy Mckee. He has a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering  
and a Masters in Structural Engineering.
