TRADING STATEMENT                                                               
The Directors of Bell advise that the unaudited, but reviewed, results for the  
six months ended 30 June 2006 which are due to be released via SENS on Friday 11
August 2006, will reflect a marked improvement in profitability after tax up    
from R12,63 million a year ago to approximately R102 million.  This translates  
into earnings per share of 108 cents (June 2005 : 13 cents) and headline        
earnings per share of 108 cents as compared to 11 cents for the six months ended
30 June 2005.
