Shareholders are advised that the annual financial statements of the group for  
the year ended 31 December 2005 will be posted to shareholders on 26 April 2006 
and contain no modifications to information previously published in the         
preliminary report issued to shareholders and the audited results which were    
published on 9 March 2006. An online version of the annual report will be       
available on our website www.standardbank.co.za from close of business on       
Wednesday 26 April 2006.

Notice is hereby given that the 37th Annual General Meeting of Standard Bank    
Group shareholders will be held at Standard Bank Centre on Wednesday 24 May 2006
at 09:30 to transact the business stated in the notice of the Annual General    
Meeting, which was issued together with the annual report containing the annual 
financial statements of the group for the year ended 31 December 2005.
