BAHRAIN FERRY TRAGEDY                                                           
The Murray & Roberts team responsible for constructing the World Trade Centre   
(WTC) project in Bahrain was on board the ferry that capsized and sank last     
night.                                                                          
Murray & Roberts Group Chief Executive Brian Bruce said this morning: "We are   
deeply shocked by this tragedy. Our sympathy and condolences go out to all those
who have been affected."                                                        
He confirmed that there are Murray & Roberts staff amongst the more than 50     
people reported dead or missing.                                                
"We have established a crisis centre at our Johannesburg corporate office, which
is supported by our offices in London and Dubai" he said, adding that           
"management has been mobilised to Bahrain from Dubai, London and Johannesburg   
this morning to assist with the difficult process that lies ahead for Murray &  
Roberts, our partners, the project itself and importantly, our staff and their  
families."                                                                      
Bruce confirmed that Murray & Roberts has twenty five (25) employees in Bahrain 
on the WTC project. Of these eight (8) are South African, eleven (11) are from  
United Kingdom, one (1) each from Bahrain and Pakistan and four (4) from India. 
Latest information available is that fifteen (15) Murray & Roberts staff are    
confirmed safe, with four (4) confirmed dead and six (6) unaccounted for.       
"We have assembled a corporate team to deal with the human side to this tragedy,
including coordination through the South African Department of Foreign Affairs, 
notifications to next-of-kin as we learn more detail and trauma counseling" said
Bruce. He added that regular updates will be posted on the Murray & Roberts     
Website as further information becomes available.
