NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the following preference dividends have been        
declared for the six months to 28 February 2006, payable on Monday,3 April 2006.
The last day on which shares will trade cum dividend will be Friday, 24 March   
2006.   Shoprite Holdings Ltd preference shares will trade ex dividend as from  
Monday, 27 March 2006.  The record date will be Friday, 31 March 2006.          
Share certificates may not be dematerialised or rematerialised between Monday,  
27 March 2006 and Friday, 31 March 2006 , both days inclusive.
