Following the approval of the scheme of arrangement proposed between Sanlam and 
Africa Life Assurance and notification from the Stock Exchange, FTSE and the JSE
announces the following changes:                                                
INDEX     CHANGE    EFFECTIVE FROM      START OF TRADING                        
FTSE/JSE Africa Mid Cap (J201)     Africa Life Assurance (South Africa,         
ZAE000000246, 6009670) will be deleted from the index.Redefine Income Fund Ltd  
(South Africa, ZAE000023503, 6208842) will be added to the index with           
504,951,751 shares in issue and an investability weighting of 75%.    27        
December 2005                                                                   
FTSE/JSE Africa Small Cap (J202)   Redefine Income Fund Ltd will be deleted from
the index.     27 December 2005                                                 
FTSE/JSE Africa All Share (J203)   Africa Life Assurance will be deleted from   
the index.     27 December 2005                                                 
FTSE/JSE Africa Financial & Industrial (J250)     Africa Life Assurance will be 
deleted from the index.  27 December 2005                                       
FTSE/JSE Africa Capped All Share (J303) Africa Life Assurance will be deleted   
from the index.     27 December 2005                                            
FTSE/JSE Africa Shareholder Weighted All Share (J403)  Africa Life Assurance    
will be deleted from the index.    27 December 2005                             
FTSE/JSE Africa Style (J330 and J331)   Africa Life Assurance will be deleted   
from the index.     27 December2005
