Further to Shoprite"s preliminary results for the year ended 30 June 2005,      
published on 24 August 2005, the annual report was posted today The annual      
report contains no modifications to the aforementioned published preliminary    
results.                                                                        
Annual general meeting                                                          
The annual general meeting of the members of Shoprite will be held at 09:15 on  
Thursday, 27 October 2005 at the company"s registered office, Corner William    
Dabs and Paarl Roads, Brackenfell, South Africa, to transact the business as    
stated in the notice of the annual general meeting forming part of the annual   
report.
