Sanlam informs that Chris Swanepoel chief actuary and member of the executive   
committee of Sanlam Limited, has announced that he will retire at the end of    
August 2005. He started his career at Sanlam in 1972 and was appointed chief    
actuary in 1990.                                                                
He will remain a director on the Boards of Sanlam Life and Sanlam Capital       
Markets.                                                                        
Andre Zeeman, chief executive: actuarial of Sanlam Personal Finance has been    
appointed chief actuary from 1 September 2005 while he will be succeeded in     
Sanlam Personal Finance by Joubert Ferreira.
