RESIGNATION OF DIRECTOR                                                         
In compliance with rule 3.59 of the Listings Requirements of the JSE Securities 
Exchange South Africa ("the JSE"), Oceana hereby announces that Mr DF Behrens   
has resigned as a non-executive director of the Company with effect from 14     
April 2005.                                                                     
Mr Behrens joined Oceana in 1972 and was appointed to the board in 1981.  He was
the Company"s Managing Director from 1988 to 1999, when he retired from his     
executive role in Oceana and continued in a non-executive capacity. He played   
the leading role in Oceana"s pioneering move in 1994 to become the first black  
empowered company in the South African fishing industry.                        
Mr Behrens has in recent years been spending more time out of the country, where
distance and length of time away have made it increasingly difficult for him to 
fulfil his board obligations.                                                   
Oceana"s board of directors wishes to express its appreciation to Mr Behrens for
his valuable contribution to the Company over the past 33 years.
