DISPOSAL OF THE COMPANY"S SHARES IN UNITRANS LIMITED                            
Shareholders of the Company are referred to the announcement released on SENS on
6 September 2004 where shareholders were advised that the Company had accepted  
an offer from Steinhoff International Holdings Limited ("Offer") for its 34 216 
680 shares in Unitrans Limited ("Unitrans").                                    
The Offer was priced at R28.00 per Unitrans share ("Offer price"), subject to   
certain adjustments based on the audited financial statements of Unitrans for   
the year ended 30 June 2004 ("the Unitrans financials"). Subsequent to release  
of the Unitrans financials, the Offer price has been finalised at R27.32 per    
Unitrans share which will result in a cash inflow to the Company of             
approximately R935 million. Shareholders are advised that this transaction is   
still subject to receiving approval from the Competition Authorities.           
The information circular in respect of this transaction will be posted to       
shareholders in due course.
