With regard to the audited results for the year ended 30 June 2004, shareholders
are advised that the annual financial statements will be distributed to         
shareholders on or about 29 October 2004 and contain no modifications to the    
audited results which were published on SENS on 14 September 2004.              
The annual financial statements were audited by PricewaterhouseCoopers Inc.     
Their report is available for inspection at the Company"s registered office.    
Notice of the annual general meeting                                            
Notice is hereby given that the seventh annual general meeting of FirstRand     
shareholders will be held at 09:00 on Monday 22 November 2004 in the Auditorium,
18th Floor, 1 Merchant Place, cnr Fredman Drive and Rivonia Road, Sandton, 2196 
to transact the business as stated in the annual general meeting notice forming 
part of the annual financial statements.
