JULY 2004 DI 900 MOVEMENTS                                                      
As a result of a DI reporting exercise conducted by FirstRand Bank in           
conjunction with the South African Reserve Bank, certain unusual movements      
appear in line 61 and 69 of July"s DI 900. These movements reflect a            
reallocation of positions between lines on the balance sheet. The re-allocations
conform with general market practice and do not have the affect of changing any 
total asset or liability figures, or profit and loss numbers.
