Aspen enters the infant nutritional market                                      
Aspen has entered the infant nutritional market in Sub-Saharan Africa through   
securing a licence agreement with Wyeth.  Key brands marketed under this        
arrangement are the S26 range of infant formulas, Infasoy and SMA.  Aspen has   
commenced with the marketing of these brands.                                   
In a deal announced today Aspen has concluded an agreement with Royal Numico    
N.V., a Dutch specialized nutrition company, to acquire Numico"s South African  
Baby Food businesses and the Infacare brand name in South Africa for the        
combined sum of R21,7m.  Although the Numico business is currently loss making, 
the combination of the two businesses will create a business capable of         
competing successfully and profitability in the infant nutritional market.      
The transaction with Numico is conditional upon Competition Commission and      
Exchange Control approvals.
