WOOLWORTHS HOLDINGS LIMITED - BOARD APPOINTMENTS AND EXECUTIVE RESTRUCTURE Woolworths Holdings Limited Registration number 1929/001986/06 ISIN: ZAE000028288 JSE Share code: WHL BOARD APPOINTMENTS AND EXECUTIVE RESTRUCTURE Woolworths Holdings Limited (WHL) announces the appointment of Nolitha Fakude, Mike Leeming and Chris Nissen to the board with effect from 1 July 2004. Buddy Hawton, chairman of Woolworths Holdings, said, "The new appointments will provide the board with a combination of broader knowledge and more diversity. Nolitha Fakude brings with her a retail background in Woolworths together with the experience she gained as the president of the Black Management Forum. Chris Nissen has agreed to assume the role as chairperson of the transformation committee which will be formed shortly. Mike Leeming"s appointment as a director and as chairman of the risk committee and member of the audit committee provides the group with the skills and experience resulting from his commercial and banking background". Two executives of WHL have resigned from the board with effect from 30 June 2004. Deon de Kock has elected to take early retirement after twelve years with the business. Mark Canning who has been with the company for fifteen years has advised that he wishes to pursue other interests. To further streamline operations and integration to meet the changing needs of our customers, the executive responsibilities within the group have been restructured. Richard Butt extends his existing portfolio of Foods to include Clothing & Home and Marketing. In addition to his existing responsibility of Supply Chain and Logistics and Information Technology, Richard Inskip assumes direct responsibility for Financial Services. Kevin Stanford, who presently has responsibility for our stores extends his portfolio to include the franchise stores. Zyda Rylands, a Woolworths employee and senior representative on the Black Management Forum has been appointed to assume the responsibility of Human Resources later this year from Helena Feltham, who is currently responsible for Human Resources on a short term assignment.
