TRADING STATEMENT AND CAUTIONARY ANNOUNCEMENT                                   
In terms of the Listings Requirements of the JSE Securities Exchange South      
Africa ("JSE Listings Requirements"), companies are required to publish a       
trading statement as soon as they become aware that the financial results for   
the period to be reported upon next will be materially different from that of   
the prior period.                                                               
Famous Brands accordingly advises that it expects headline earnings for the year
ended 29 February 2004 to be substantially above headline earnings reported for 
the year ended 28 February 2003. In terms of the JSE Listing Requirements,      
substantially is defined as meaning an increase or decrease equal or greater    
than 30%.                                                                       
The financial results of the company and its subsidiaries have not been reviewed
or reported on by the company"s auditors. Shareholders are advised to exercise  
caution when dealing in the shares of Famous Brands until the release of the    
company"s results for the year ended 29 February 2004.
