Shareholders are advised that the annual financial statements of the group for  
the year ended 31 December 2003 will be posted to shareholders on 23 April 2004 
and contain no modifications to the audited results which were published on 10  
March 2004. PricewaterhouseCoopers Inc and KPMG audited the results and the     
annual financial statements of the group and their reports are available for    
inspection at the registered office of Standard Bank Group                      
Notice of Annual General Meeting                                                
Notice is hereby given that the 35th Annual General Meeting of Standard Bank    
Group shareholders will be held at Standard Bank Centre on Thursday 20 May 2004 
at 09:30 to transact the business stated in the notice of the Annual General    
Meeting, which was issued together with the annual report containing the annual 
financial statements of the group for the year ended 31 December 2003.
