Further to the Company"s audited results for the period ended 30 June 2003,     
shareowners are advised that the annual financial statements have been          
dispatched to shareowners on 30 September 2003 and contain no modifications to  
the audited results which were published on 21 August 2003.                     
The audited results of the Company as referred to above and the annual financial
statements were audited by the Company"s auditors, Ernst & Young.               
Their report is available for inspection at the Company"s registered office.

Notice is hereby given that the Company"s annual general meeting of Woolies     
shareowners will be held in the Auditorium, Woolworths House, 93 Longmarket     
Street, Cape Town, South Africa on 20 November 2003 at 09h30 to transact        
businesses as stated on the notice of the annual general meeting forming part of
the annual financial statements.
