Shareholders are referred to the press release by FirstRand Limited             
("FirstRand") today, 28 May 2003, announcing the agreement by the directors of  
FirstRand to extend Mr Mac Maharaj"s leave of absence for a further two months  
following an independent enquiry into allegations made against Mr Mac Maharaj   
and the Discovery Holding"s Limited board confirms the extension of Mr Mac      
Maharaj"s leave of absence for a further two months.
