Aspen Pharmacare announced today that Leslie Boyd has agreed to join the Board  
of the company as an independent non-executive director.  Mr Boyd spent thirty  
two years at Anglo American Corporation including ten years as managing director
and nine years as chairman of Highveld Steel.  During that period he served on a
number of boards including Anglo American Corporation of which he was deputy    
chairman for eight years.  He is currently the non-executive chairman of        
Datatech and Imperial Holdings and a non-executive director of ABSA, Anglo      
American Platinum, Highveld Steel, Kersaf and Tongaat Hullett amongst others.   
Stephen Saad, group chief executive of Aspen Pharmacare welcomed Mr Boyd to the 
Board and said that with his extensive experience Mr Boyd is expected to make a 
meaningful contribution to the affairs of Aspen Pharmacare.                     
Mr Boyd stated that he has been impressed by the substantial progress made by   
Aspen Pharmacare since taking over the pharmaceutical business of SA Druggists  
and by the growth in the cash generated from operations and in profits.  He said
that he is happy to be joining the Board of Aspen Pharmacare and is looking     
forward to participating as a non-executive director in the future development  
of South Africa"s largest listed pharmaceutical manufacturer.
