ASSORE BOARD APPOINTMENT                                                        
Assore has announced that Dr. Johannes C van der Horst has joined the Board with
effect from 2 January 2003 as an independent non-executive director.            
Dr. van der Horst, who previously served on the Assore Board between 1989 and   
1997 when he was a senior official at Old Mutual, is currently a non- executive 
director of Wooltru and Reunert.
