TRADING UPDATE                                                                  
Truworths International Limited ("Truworths") increased retail sales in the 26  
weeks to 29 December 2002 by 23.3 % over the corresponding figure for 2001.  The
sales growth for the corresponding period in the last financial year was 17.3 %.
The sales performance for the 26-week period reflected the reasonable growth in 
November and December that was anticipated in the group`s trading update issued 
on 6 November 2002.  The trading period  for  November  and  December 2002      
showed a 21.0 % improvement.  This was achieved against the background of the   
strong trading base established over past years.  In the comparable  period in  
2001, sales for November and December, grew by  15.5%.                          
Truworths interim results for the 26-week period to 29 December are expected to 
be announced on 27 February 2003.
