Appointment of Director and Chief Executive                                     
In compliance with section 3.67 of the Listings Requirements of the JSE         
Securities Exchange South Africa, notification is hereby given that the         
Board of the Company has appointed Mr Schalk Engelbrecht as Chief               
Executive Officer of the Company to succeed Mr Lex van Vught who has            
indicated his intention to retire from that position on 31 March 2003.          
Mr van Vught will become a Non-Executive Director of AECI from that             
date.                                                                           
Mr Engelbrecht has also been appointed as an Executive Director of AECI         
Limited with immediate effect. Mr Engelbrecht is currently the Chief            
Executive of the Company`s listed subsidiary Chemical Services Limited.
