The Board of Directors of Howden advise that Dr TV Maphai has resigned with     
effect from 21 August 2002.                                                     
His resignation arose as a consequence of his responsibilities and his other    
significant commitments.                                                        
The Board express its appreciation for the valued contribution made by Dr       
Maphai.
