Sexwale appointed chairman of Trans Hex Trans Hex Group Limited News release Sexwale appointed chairman of Trans Hex (Cape Town 16th August 2002) The appointment of Tokyo Sexwale - one of South Africa`s most respected businessmen - as chairman of Trans Hex signals the beginning of an aggressive expansion phase for the niche diamond mining company. Sexwale has been on the Trans Hex board since 2000 when, through Mvelaphanda Holdings (Mvela), he facilitated the acquisition of additional land and marine resources with the purchase of Gem Diamonds and Benguela Concessions. Outgoing chairman Bernard van Rooyen said : "I am delighted to handover to a man of Tokyo`s calibre - he has proven to be an astute leader with incredible vision. He has thrived in the rough and tumble of the uncompromising resource sector and will be a real asset for the future of the Company." Sexwale said : "I am honoured. Trans Hex is globally acknowledged as a leader in alluvial mining. Its reputation for producing some of the world`s most sought-after conflict-free gem-quality diamonds separates it as a star performer." Sexwale added that Trans Hex was in an advanced stage of negotiations to secure additional resources both within and outside South Africa and that an announcement would be made in the near future. Van Rooyen, who has been on the Trans Hex board since 1993, will remain and take over the deputy chairman mantle. "We are at an exciting juncture," said Sexwale.
