Reference is made to the announcement regarding the disposal of PPC`s investment
in NPC to Cimpor Cimentos de Portugal SPGS, S.A, released on 22 March 2002.  PPC
is pleased to announce that it has been advised that the Competition Commission 
authorities have approved the disposal without conditions.  The disposal will   
be effective on 30 August 2002 as all conditions precedent have now been        
fulfilled..
