The above appointment became effective 27 May 2002. News Release Industry stalwart appointed to Trans Hex board The appointment of a born and bred Namaqualander, Altie Krige as executive director in charge of land operations is evidence of Trans Hex`s commitment to promoting from within and rewarding excellent service. Krige, a graduate of the University of Stellenbosch, has spent more than 20 years of his professional career involved in the exploration and mining of diamonds in Namaqualand and the West Coast. "Trans Hex is a company on the move," said company chairman Bernard van Rooyen. "and I am proud that we have the calibre of employees like Altie joining the Board to take us forward in our new ventures." "He brings a wealth of experience to the management team having worked his way up from field geologist to mine manager to overall production manager of the land division," added van Rooyen. Krige`s promotion coincides with the announcement of record financial and production results from Trans Hex, South Africa`s only JSE-listed diamond miner. The company has established a global reputation for the production of large gem-quality diamonds from operations along the Middle and Lower Orange River and off the South African and Namibian West Coasts.
