DECLARATION OF PREFERENCE DIVIDENDS

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the following preference dividends have been
declared for the six months to 31 August 2001, payable on 14 September 2001
to shareholders registered in the books of the company at the close of
business on Friday, 7 September 2001:
6% CUMULATIVE PREFERENCE SHARES
   Dividend No. 131 of 6 (six) cents per share.
5% CUMULATIVE PREFERENCE SHARES
   Dividend No. 116 of 5 (five) cents per share.
SECOND 5% CUMULATIVE PREFERENCE SHARES
   Dividend No. 111 of 5 (five) cents per share.
THIRD 5% CUMULATIVE PREFERENCE SHARES
   Dividend No. 109 of 5 (five) cents per share.
