Standard Bank Investment Corporation Limited ("Standard Bank") is pleased to
announce that all conditions precedent to the acquisition of Jardine Fleming
Bank Limited ("JF Bank") have been met and Completion occurred on 3rd July
2001.

JF Bank changed its name to Standard Bank Asia Limited on Completion and
will  trade under the name of Standard Jardine Fleming Bank.

According to Malcolm Wilde "Thanks to the co-operation of all of the

parties, Completion has occurred significantly ahead of schedule.  We look
forward to the smooth integration of Standard Jardine Fleming Bank into the
Standard Bank Group".
