Further cautionary announcement

Further to the previous cautionary announcements dated 8 December 2000 and 25
January 2001, Standard Corporate and Merchant Bank is authorised to announce
that PPC is in negotiations with Anglo American Corporation Zimbabwe Limited
("Anglo Zimbabwe") relating to the acquisition of the Portland Holdings Limited
("Porthold") shares under the control of Anglo Zimbabwe and its associated
companies.  Should the negotiations, which are now at an advanced stage, be
successful and the necessary regulatory approvals be obtained, PPC may be
obliged to extend a mandatory offer to the minority shareholders of Porthold to
acquire their shares.

PPC shareholders are therefore advised to continue to exercise caution when
dealing in their shares until an announcement setting out further details is
made.
