News release

The largest diamond ever produced by alluvial miner Trans Hex in its 36-year history is one of the 96 gem-quality stones larger than ten carats to go on offer at the Company's upcoming tender.
The 216-carat gem, recovered from the Saxendrift operation on the Orange River during October 2000, is one of 36 parcels for sale totalling more than 17 000-carats.
The tender which will be open for viewing from 5th to 16th March, at the South African Diamond Bourse in Johannesburg, also includes a 55-carat stone - the largest gem recovered from Trans Hex's flagship Baken operation.
"I have been in the mining business for more than 30-years but never cease to be thrilled with the discovery of large gem-quality diamonds," said Peter Danchin, managing director: operations.
Trans Hex operates mines along the middle and lower Orange River and has established a worldwide reputation for producing large diamonds of extremely high quality.
These characteristics have enabled the Company to achieve run-of mine prices among the highest in the world with Saxendrift averaging over US$1 000 per carat.
Trans Hex markets its entire production through an in-house tender system under the supervision of the South African Diamond Board, ensuring that only diamonds from the Company's own mining leases reach the marketplace. Ends. For further information : Peter Danchin Trans Hex Group
