Sappi wins against Competition Commission and Papercor in Competition Appeal

Sappi confirmed today that it has received notification from the Competition    
Appeal Court that its case against the Competition Commission"s attempt to re-  
open a matter involving Papercor has succeeded.  The Appeal Court also issued an
order for costs against the Competition Commission and Papercor.                
The judgement prohibits the Commission from re-opening and investigating the    
Papercor case, which had been dismissed by the Competition Tribunal in a        
judgement issued on 17 April 2002.                                              
Sappi is satisfied that the issue has now been resolved.  Throughout this matter
Sappi maintained that it had not contravened the Competition Act.
