APPOINTMENT OF CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

AngloGold is pleased to announce the appointment of Dave Hodgson as the
Chief Operating Officer of AngloGold Limited.  At the AngloGold board
meeting later this month, Hodgson's election as an Executive Director to
the Company's board will be proposed.

The purpose of this appointment is to enable AngloGold to achieve two
goals simultaneously: the pursuit of its strategic objectives, under the
leadership of the CEO, and the achievement of the highest possible
operational effectiveness, under the COO.

In Dave Hodgson's 30-year career with De Beers, Anglo American and

AngloGold he has spent eight years in open pit mining operations in

Africa, has worked in Canada and in AngloGold's South American

operations, as well as in all the company's South African operations.
During his tenure as Executive Officer, Technology and Innovation, he led
the company's technical services unit, its exploration programme and its
technology and innovation programme.  This portfolio also exposed Hodgson
to AngloGold's African and Australian operations, as well as to other
global operations.  Hodgson currently heads the company's South African
region.

Neville Nicolau, recently returned from South America, where he was the
company's senior technical executive, will replace Hodgson as Head of the
South African region, effective 1 November 2001.

Commenting on the new responsibilities, AngloGold CEO Bobby Godsell said,
"These appointments strengthen the capacity of AngloGold to continue to
meet its demanding financial and operating targets at the same time as it
positions itself to play a leading role in the world gold industry in
this new millennium."
