Omnia Issues R405 Million of Domestic Medium Term Notes                         
Omnia is pleased to announce that its operating subsidiary, Omnia Group         
(Proprietary) Limited, has successfully raised three year term debt through an  
issue of R405 million Senior Unsecured Fixed Rate Notes ("the Issue") under its 
R1.5 billion Domestic Medium Term Note  Programme ("the DMTN Programme") which  
was recently established on the Bond Exchange of South Africa ("BESA").  A      
favourable rate has been agreed.                                                
Following the strong growth experienced by Omnia, management believes it is     
prudent to replace the Group`s dependence on short term bank funds.   The DMTN  
Programme will enable Omnia to access  longer term, alternative capital sources,
strengthen its capital structure and enhance its liquidity position.   Omnia    
will use the net proceeds of the Issue to refinance its short term debt         
facilities.  The DMTN Programme will also ensure that Omnia is strongly         
positioned to capitalise on continued growth and expansion opportunities as and 
when they arise.                                                                
Background note                                                                 
Omnia is a diversified specialist chemical services company providing customised
solutions to the chemicals, mining and agriculture markets. Omnia`s three       
divisions include:                                                              
- Protea Chemicals Division: distributor of speciality, functional and effect   
chemicals and polymers in southern Africa. The division operates from 21 sites  
and has a presence in every sector of the broader chemical distribution market. 
- Mining Division: the leading supplier of explosives, associated products,     
value added services and mining chemicals to the South African open-cast and    
underground mining and quarrying industries. It has operations in southern and  
western Africa. Trading as Bulk Mining Explosives and Protea Mining Chemicals,  
it has successfully developed a new generation of electronic detonator and is in
the process of commercialising a new shocktube initiation system.               
- Agriculture Division: produces granular, liquid and speciality fertilisers and
distributes to individual farmers, co-operatives and wholesalers throughout     
southern Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Exports, an area of growth for      
Omnia, are also made to Europe, South America and Asia.
