The Company was notified on 10 November 2009 that on 10 November 2009 Mr R      
Kindts, a person discharging managerial responsibilities, sold 6,561 British    
American Tobacco p.l.c. shares ("the Shares") at a price of 1969.1818 pence per 
Share.                                                                          
Following this transaction, Mr Kindts has a total beneficial and family interest
in 97,646 Shares* (including 28,708 Deferred Shares).                           
*This balance has been adjusted to take account of an overstatement of 649      
shares made in previous announcements from 19 March 2009.
