DISCLOSURE OF CHANGE IN BENEFICAL INTEREST IN SECURITIES

In compliance with section 122(3)(b) of the Companies Act No. 71 of 2008 (“the Companies Act”)
and paragraph 3.83(b) of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, shareholders are advised that
Wescoal has received formal notification that Mr Muthanyi Robinson Ramaite has acquired an
interest in the ordinary shares of the Company, such that the total interest held by Mr Ramaite now
amounts to 5.45% of the total issued ordinary shares of the Company.

Wescoal will, as required by section 122(3)(a) of the Companies Act, file the required notice with the
Takeover Regulations Panel.
