Sappi - clarification                                                           
In response to a question from an analyst on 19 May 2005, a Sappi spokesman     
indicated that based on current market developments, meeting fiscal third       
quarter 2005 consensus earnings of 5 US cents per share could be a challenge.   
There is no change to the earnings guidance given at the end of the second      
fiscal quarter that it is unlikely that earnings for the full year will match   
last year"s earnings.
