TRADING STATEMENT – 2020 ANNUAL FINANCIAL STATEMENTS

Steinhoff Investments is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Steinhoff International Holdings N.V.
(“Steinhoff N.V.”) and is the issuer of variable rate, cumulative, non-redeemable, non-
participating preference shares with a capital value of R1.5 billion. The preference shares are
listed on the JSE. Following the events of December 2017, the publication of the Consolidated
Financial Statements was not completed within the prescribed timeframe and the listing of the
preference shares was suspended by the JSE, effective 1 March 2018, and it has remained
suspended since that date.

In terms of paragraph 3.4(b) of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, a listed company is required
to publish a trading statement as soon as it becomes reasonably certain that the financial results
for the next reporting period will differ by more than 20% from those of the previous
corresponding period.

Accordingly, a review of the financial results for the year ended 30 September 2020 by
management has indicated, with a reasonable degree of certainty, that:

    •   the loss per ordinary share is expected to be between 22 500.0 cents and 23 500.0 cents
        compared to the earnings per ordinary share of 5 749.1 cents in the previous
        corresponding period; and

    •   headline loss per ordinary share is expected to be between 12 500.0 cents and 13 500.0
        cents compared to the headline earnings per ordinary share of 7 971.6 cents in the
        previous corresponding period.

As such, in order to comply with the JSE Limited’s Listing Requirements this trading statement is
being published today.

The financial information on which this trading statement is based has not been reviewed or
reported on by Steinhoff Investments’ auditors. Steinhoff Investments financial results for the
year ended 30 September 2020 are expected to be released on SENS on or about 17 December
2020.
