Uganda central bank holds key lending rate at 9.0 pct

KAMPALA (Reuters) - Uganda central bank held its key lending rate at 9.0 percent on Monday, and its governor said economic growth was robust because of previous rate cuts that had lowered lending rates.

Bank of Uganda Governor Emmanuel Tumusiime-Mutebile told a news conference that there are risks to the growth outlook including from balance of payments pressures, while the shilling's exchange rate remained vulnerable and poses risks to inflation.
