KEATON ENERGY GRANTED ADDITIONAL PROSPECTING RIGHTS OVER 1 597 HECTARES
Keaton Energy is pleased to announce that its 74% held subsidiary, Amalahle
Exploration (Pty) Ltd ("Amalahle"), has been granted four separate prospecting
rights by the Department of Minerals and Energy. The prospecting rights cover
six discrete properties totalling 1 597 hectares in the Ermelo coal field. The
Keaton Energy and Amalahle boards of directors have approved an initial two-
phase exploration programme budget totalling R3.5 million to explore the
properties. This exploration programme will begin in June 2008. The 26%
Historically Disadvantaged Persons ("HDPs") interest in Amalahle is held by
Camden Bay Investments 64 (Pty) Ltd.
The application for and granting of the Amalahle prospecting rights is in line
with Keaton Energy`s strategy to identify, apply for and acquire attractive coal
exploration rights in partnership with HDPs. The Amalahle prospecting rights
provide Keaton Energy with an entry position into a third South African coal
field, additional to its existing 4 009 hectare Sterkfontein project in the
Highveld coal field and its 1 635 hectare Delmas project in the Witbank coal
field.
