Jimmy Marriott, the managing director of Afrox, the R5 billion plus a year
gases, welding and healthcare group, will reach retirement age and will
retire at the end of the year from Afrox, after 26 years with the company.
Jimmy Marriott has held several executive positions with Afrox. He was
appointed to the executive management committee in 1988, a director of the
company in 1995, was appointed a founding director of Afrox Healthcare
Limited ("AHealth") and managing director of Afrox in 2000.
Marriott will be succeeded by Rick Hogben who is currently managing director
of the Afrox subsidiary, AHealth.
Rick Hogben joined Afrox in 1994 with the specific responsibility of
developing the diversified healthcare services business. This business has
grown to a R1 billion a year operation. In 1999, Hogben was appointed
managing director of AHealth and led the successful acquisition of Lifecare
Group Holdings Limited ("Lifecare") and the subsequent merger with President
Medical Investments Limited ("Presmed") to form the publicly quoted company,
AHealth. He joined the Afrox board earlier this year.
Hogben will relinquish his position as managing director of AHealth, while
remaining a director of AHealth. AHealth realised R2,5 billion in sales for
the year ended 30 September 2000. A new managing director of AHealth will be
announced shortly.
